Job Title: Production Shift In-Charge
Department: Production
Reports To: Production Manager / Plant Head
Location: APIIC State Food Park (between Hanuman Junction to Nuziveedu, Krishna District, AP)
Shift: Rotational (Day/Night)
Job Summary:
The Production Shift In-Charge will be responsible for overseeing and managing all production activities during the assigned shift in a confectionery manufacturing plant. This role ensures that production targets are met in terms of quantity, quality, and efficiency while maintaining safety and hygiene standards. The role expects the candidate to be proactive while dealing with all aspects of the role.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning & Execution
• Supervise and execute the daily production plan during the shift.
• Ensure optimal use of manpower, machines, and materials.
• Monitor production output and ensure it meets quality and quantity targets.
2. Team Supervision & Coordination
• Lead and manage shift operators, technicians, and helpers.
• Allocate tasks and ensure timely completion.
• Conduct shift briefings and ensure effective handover to the next shift.
3. Quality Assurance
• Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety Standards (FSSAI), and company quality policies.
• Coordinate with QA/QC for in-process checks and take corrective actions when required.
• Minimize rework and wastage.
4. Equipment & Maintenance
• Monitor equipment performance and coordinate with maintenance for breakdowns or preventive maintenance.
• Ensure proper start-up and shutdown of machinery.
• Report any abnormality or safety issue immediately.
5. Safety, Hygiene & Compliance
• Enforce strict compliance with safety standards and PPE usage.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene on the shop floor as per FSSAI and HACCP guidelines.
• Conduct periodic safety drills and trainings.
6. Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain accurate production records, shift logs, and downtime data.
• Report shift performance metrics like output, yield, waste, and OEE.
• Escalate issues to the Production Manager as needed.
7. Continuous Improvement
• Identify areas for process improvement and waste reduction.
• Participate in Lean, Kaizen, or Six Sigma initiatives.
• Support new product trials and changeovers.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Education: Diploma/B.Tech/B.E. in Food Technology preferably, and/or in Mechanical, Chemical, or related fields.
• Experience: 3–6 years in production, preferably in FMCG or confectionery.
• Skills:
• Strong leadership and team management
• Proactive coordination with HR/Admin for labour arrangements
• Knowledge of production KPIs (OEE, yield, downtime)
• Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, ISO, FSSAI
• Basic troubleshooting and machine operation
• Computer proficiency (MS Excel, ERP systems)
• Must be proficient in local language (Telugu) and English. Ability to converse in Hindi comfortably is added advantage.
